Figuring Out Buyer Behavior No. 1

The segment I have chosen for my product are the people in Gainesville who maneuver around the intersection of West University Avenue and Southwest 13th Street. It is not enough to simply be in the area, as travel around this specific area is the main struggle that must be fixed. Typically my target customers would use this intersection to travel daily.
My first interviewee is my girlfriend Elanit, who lives at The Standard. She mentions that the traffic light interferes with her life and schedule daily. For example, she sometimes must carry loads of groceries from Publix to her apartment at a time, and it can be frustrating to hold on to that much weight for an unnecessarily long period. While waiting, the first thing she does is decides if it is more worth it to wait her turn or to illegally walk across the street, as besides that, there is no other choice.
Next, I interviewed my friend Michael, who often needs to walk across the street from The Standard to the Heavener School of Business. He mainly realizes this is a issue worth fixing when he underestimates how much time certain events take him, thus making him slightly late to the light, which in turn, makes him late to class. If the light was more efficient, he would have been given much more time to prepare, as the school is just across the street, yet the light makes him wait upwards of 8 minutes. His first reaction is similar to Elanit's, where he decides in that moment if it is worth jaywalking.
Lastly, my roommate Coby drives around a lot, specifically in that area, and describes to me the absurd amount of traffic caused by the light. It is hard, because he tries to avoid that area at all costs, but many of his friends live there, and there are many different places in that vicinity he needs to travel to. As a driver, it is a little more dangerous, as his first thought is to rush the light, since he knows if he doesn't, he may have to wait 10 minutes until he is given the right of way. If he sees the light turning yellow, depending on the situation, he will rush it as fast as possible to avoid the extra wait. This can lead to fatal accidents, and is another example of why the traffic light should be improved.
This segment, while maybe not in urgent need, would defiantly support the idea of improving the traffic lights, s they believe the ends will justify the means. In terms of information search, they do not really know how to fix the problem. It is not something that would involve an easy fix, and many do not even know who to contact to explain their discontent. The traffic light causes people to make some potentially dangerous decisions, so fixing it is undoubtedly something the people who travel in the area would support.
